I am pleased to learn that Pakistan Navy has organized a grand water sports festival, which is the first of its kind in the country.

I commend the initiative and feel that the event would serve as a pioneering effort for the promotion of healthy water sport activities for the youth.    Such events will surely harness and give impetus to the growth of water sports in the country.  The overwhelming response to the event is very encouraging and indicative of the popularity of water sports and its tremendous potential in the masses. 

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Chief of the Naval Staff and those associated with organizing this event. I am sure that it would go a long way for the promotion of water sports in Pakistan. I expect a continued patronage of healthy sports in Pakistan by the Governmental, Armed Forces and Private sector with similar enthusiasm.

Message from Chief of Naval Staff

Water Sports are very popular in advanced countries as they provide healthy entertainment and a challenging pastime. Such Event also help in fostering courage and play a yeoman role in character building of a country’s  human resource. However, in Pakistan these activities are generally inaccessible to the public. Taking due cognizance of this, Pakistan Navy, has taken a leading role in promoting Water Sports across the country. It is our belief that the medium of sports can be effectively used in promoting maritime culture as well as National image building.

I am sure PN Water Sports Gala – 2008 will increase awareness about water sports in country and encourage people to participate in these healthy activities. More than half of our population is under the age of nineteen. To prepare our youth to contribute positively towards National development, they require such opportunities to focus their energies on demanding and adventurous pursuits; which besides being a source of reaction also help in grooming physical and mental facilities. With this in view, Pakistan Navy remains committed to promotion of water sports across the country.

I congratulate Commander Coast, Koncepts Unlimited and City District Government, Karachi for joining hands to organize the Event and look forward to the support of all relevant departments and organizations for great success of the Gala.

Message from Governor Sindh

I am happy to learn that the bigggest ever Pakistan Navy Water Sports Gala in Karachi is scheduled to be held in the first week of August 2008. Our province has long been known for its hospitality and Karachi is really the hub of Trade, Cultural & Entertainment events, I, therefore, feel that there could be no better place to host the festival.

The Pakistan Navy Water Sports Gala is a highly anticipated event that will give people a chance to see the diversity of different demonstrations by our Naval Servicemen. The government has contributed significantly to promote the image of Pakistan with focus on its rich potentials. Our support of the Pakistan Navy Water Sports Gala stems from that very philosophy. Since, it is first-ever Water Sports Gala of Pakistan Navy; therefore, it needs to be highlighted and projected on an international platform.

I would like to thank the Coastal Command of Pakistan Navy for providing us with a wealth of creativity and talent that will enrich the people of our province. My support to the event is highly committed.

It is with great pleasure and pride that Pakistan Navy announces scheduling of the Pakistan Navy Water Sports
Gala from 1-3 August, 2008 at Defence Authority Marina Club Karachi, Pakistan. 

The popularity of water sports continues to grow with new activities popping up all the time, but with it comes a greater need for knowledge and safety awareness. Equipment and expertise may have developed but water will always present a threat, and so it is important to be clued up about the risks and challenges of any new water sport undertaken.

I am filled with pride to know that PN soldiers will be acting courageously and pushing their bodies to the limit, while the citizens of Karachi will have the opportunity to learn adaptive water skiing by speed boats; assault demo and fast boat recovery by SSG(N) and other water sports as guests at the PN Water Sports Gala.

There would also be a food festival, display of cultural village presenting the lifestyle of Sindh-Balochistan coastal areas, live musical concert, traditional cultural bridal show, kid zone.

This way, the PN Water Sports Gala will also bring forward the opportunity of public-private interaction. I look forward to the support and coordination of private sector to give PN Water Sports Gala a real festive look.
